About this stone. Sold as Malay jade, this is dyed chalcedony, not jade. Chalcedony is the name for the many kinds of quartz made of microscopic crystals (microcrystalline or cryptocrystalline quartz), rather than large, visible crystals. Hardness 6.5–7 on the Mohs scale. Care: clean it with warm soapy water and a soft brush, then rinse and dry. Read more about chalcedony in our Gemstone Guide
